The Green Party of Hawai'i supports the recounts of the U.S. Presidential election sponsored by Jill Stein.  This was an unprecedented election in many ways and demanded closer scrutiny. To this day revelations continue surrounding various factors that unfairly affected our national election and the recounts were a way to help reassure Americans about the veracity of the election.

At the same time the GPH also supports the upcoming Women's March on Washington. The idea came from a grandmother on Maui and has grown to a national movement to protest Donald Trump's treatment of women and has been expanded to include concerns about racism, xenophobia and the targeting of Muslims and gays.

The new president needs to know he will be held to a higher moral standard than the outrageously offensive statements he has made in the past and during his campaign. The Office of the President of the United States deserves no less.
